Kingsville, Texas: Santa Gertrudis Breeders International. Good. 1954. First Edition. Hardcover. Signed and inscribed by Carl Hertzog on colophon page. Carl Hertzog designed the book. Maroon cloth with gilt lettering. Boards have moderate soiling and wear; light dampstaining to front pastedown and endpaper. "The major purpose of this modest volume is to record the beginnings: the beginnings of the breed, the association, of the association's program and the first results" (preface). The book is divided into sections: the first section was written by Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. And provides a history of the breed; the second section is a schematic, technical history of the breed written by A. O. Rhoad. ; B&W Plates and Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 94 pp .
