Age spotting to text block. Jacket with original price ($3.50) on front flap is age toned, moderately soiled, shows loss at corners, staining to spine. Now in protective archival sleeve. Remains of silver label (? -- tape?) at top and bottom of front and rear endpapers; age discoloration at front and rear gutters; otherwise interior is age toned with limited mild soiling/spotting in margins. Book has a mild age smell. Romaniello was known as "The Noodle Priest of Hong Kong" for feeding starving refugees..

This book does not indulge in political analysis, yet a candid picture is built up which gives a better idea of what Communisim means to China than that contained in many a more dramatic book. Not that drama and violence have no place in the author's account. The story of Li Li Pan, for example, who denounces her relatives and volunteers to kill her grandfather, is an unusually powerful episode.
