Pages and plates have light tanning and foxing throughout. Heavier to endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil inscriptions to front pastedown and endpaper. Water staining to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Wear marks overall.

Frayed spine ends, newspaper clippings tipped-in on first blank pages, typed letter signed by James Pope tipped to front pastedown (Pope was US Senator from Idaho and later Director of the Tennessee Valley Authority for many years), solid binding, underlining on many pages and marginal notes penned to several pages including the title page. Good working example of the book, complete with all pages, photos and maps. The book measures 226mm tall x 145mm, and has 270pp, 32 b/w plates, folding map, index to names. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.

Blue cloth, blue lettering on spine (minor shelfwear, some minor bumping to corners, edgewear), still VG- copy. First edition in English of this account of climbing Mount Stalin (Ismail Somoni), which was ascended during the Tajikistan-Pamirs-Expedition.
