Ownership signature of Edith Lewis on front fly. Lewis was the lifelong domestic partner, editor, and literary executor of Pulitzer-Prize winning author, Willa Cather. Following Cather's death, Lewis published a memoir of her in 1953 titled *Willa Cather Living.* Historically, Lewis was often overlooked and made into Cather's secretary, which she was not, but rather a professional woman with demanding office jobs as a magazine editor at *McClure's Magazine,* the managing editor of *Every Week Magazine,* and an advertising copywriter at J.
