Coloured map has a small nibble not affecting the map, has closed tears repaired from the underside and is sunned in one corner. Contents otherwise in very good condition.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good.

Durban, John Singleton, 1900 1st. Oblong hardback, approx 10 x 7.5 inches. Brown cloth with black lettering to front. Brown endpapers. In good condition. Cover darkened, corners bumped. Lighter label mark nr. bottom of spine. Bookplate to front endpaper “Royal United Service Intitution, presented by Lord Sydenham, Jun 1913.” Front and free endpapers are loose, edges chipped. Frontis map is tanned/darkened on top corner. Some glue marks to inner edge of title page, neat pencil note to top corner. Inside pages clean and tight. Else a good copy. Profusely illustrated with B&W photographs and designs. One folding colour map at front, one folding diagram at rear.

Author is styled on map as "Lithographer (Gold Medallist), Photographer, & Artist Illuminator". The map shows a plan of the battle areas and a cartouche view from Mount Alice.

Encadernação inteira de tela flexível com ferros a seco na pasta anterior. Profusamente ilustrado com fotografias e gravuras no texto e em extratexto com um mapa e um gráfico, sobre folhas desdobráveis, coladas nas folhas de guarda anterior e posterior. Exemplar com o mapa geográfico danificado, encontrando-se com algumas partes com ligeiros rasgos e soltas. Obra sobre a Guerra dos Boers, 1899-1902, que opõs a Inglaterra aos colonos de origem Holandesa, designados por Boers, que queriam estabelecer um estado independente em parte do território que é hoje a África do Sul.    I-197-D-2
