Fourth printing. The New Ensign series for boys. *First published in 1916. The frontispiece is by Cyrus Cuneo, the black & white illustrations are by Rene Bull. Herbert Strang was the pseudonym of George Herbert Ely and Charles James L'Estrange, who were both staff members of Oxford University Press. Together they wrote and edited numerous stories for boys and (as 'Mrs. Herbert Strang') girls.
