One of the most important angling bibliographies, with many entries annotated. The expanded 1883 edition, reproduced here, recorded 3,158 editions and reprints of 2,148 separate works. There are sections on angling, the fisheries and fish culture; entries being arranged alphabetically under these headings. There are two appendixes, the first containing a "Collection of citations touching on angling and fishing, from old English authors, dramatists, and poets"; the second "A skeleton chronicle of dated, redated, and undated editions and reprints, with dissimilar imprints, of Izaak Walton's 'Compleat Angler', enumerated in this work". Please examine all images. A rare set in this "good/very good condition: rubbed corners, slight edge wear, board spotting, end page stickers. Also, the former owner made margin notes in red and lead pencil--discreet and erasable. The "List of Books" in wrappers has some ink writing on the outside cover wrapper and the inside pages were externally taped for reinforcement.
