In very good minus dark red highly decorated and blind stamped bevel-edged cloth boards with gilt titles to front and spine. The boards are loose from page block at the front from tail edge; a little shelf-cocked; clean; spine sunned and ends worn. Very lightly marked end papers; name of previous owner on front paste down. Shiny gilt cut edges. The text block is quite firm, straight and nearly all the pages are unmarked, with light foxing on only a few - very good condition. With 'eight engravings in steel'. Name of previous owner on a Prelim and dated 1880. Issued without jacket.

Gilt titles in gilt motif on front and gilt titles on spine; elaborate blind tooling on boards. Gilt page edges. Edges of spine/front board edge and edges of spine raised bands a little rubbed.
