Description:
Fisher, Son & Co.. Hardback. Very Good. Undated two-volumes-bound-as-one hardback edition, c.1840, in the original full green leather binding: boards with decorative cross-hatched embossing and gilt tooling to edges; spine with five raised bands, red gilt title label and gilt decoration. In overall very good used condition with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - boards slightly shelf-worn. Binding tight and appears little read - hinges sound. Internally clean, no annotation or inscriptions - previous owners small name and address label to second front endpaper; gilt page-ends retain lustre and there is some light scattered foxing here and there, mostly to the reverse of the plates, but text, marbled endpapers and highly-detailed illustrations bright and clear throughout. A particularly handsome and solid copy, this book is both large (l.280mm, w.225mm, d.40mm) and heavy (2.5kg packaged). Photographs available. Not an old library book.
