Over 250 photo illustrations, tinted blue, 1 large map, all with identifying text. Illustrated printed softcovers showing the devastation of Nagasaki, cover art by Wengert, punch sewn at gutter margin with brown silk ribbon as issued (minor shelfwear, minor bumping to corners, slight creasing), still VG copy. First edition of this photo-illustrated work chronicling the movements of the 2nd Marine division commanded by Major General LeRoy Hunt in occupying Japan between Sept. 23, 1945 and July 1, 1946. The 2nd Marine Division was composed of the 2nd, 6th, and 8th Regimental Combat Teams, along with an Artillery group of the 10th Marine Regiment, as well as a Headquarters Battalion, Service Troops, an Engineer Group, a Tank Battalion, and other smaller organizations.
