Burnet in southeast Texas in the early 1830s. The present form is completed for one of the principal land owners in the scheme, Lorenzo de Zavala, and is signed by him on the verso. Zavala went on to play a major role in the Texas Revolution and became the first Vice President of the Republic of Texas.
