About This Item
Wisdom vs. Foolishness, Henry D. Perky, President of Oread Institute. The Perky Publishing Company, Worcester, Massachusetts, 1902. Second edition. 12mo up to 7½" tall., 100pp. with 8 color and black and white plates. Two tone green cloth boards with green titles front and spine, green flowered patterned endpapers; rough cut fore and tail edge. Black stamp to blank page: Compliments of The Natural Food Co. Manufacturers of Shredded Whole Wheat Niagara Falls, N.Y. Volume is in fine condition with an occasional small foxing mark and light board wear; binding is tights and square, contents are without markings, folds or tears and appear unread. Henry Drushel Perky (1843-1906) was a lawyer, businessman, promoter and inventor. His most notable invention was the breakfast staple, shredded wheat. Wisdom vs. Foolishness contains 3 lectures: Nutrition and Tooth Building, Oral Sepsis and, Duty of Pastor and, Teacher in Relation to the Food Subject. Outside of institutional holdings, original copies are very scarce with only 2 copies on the market at time of listing.
