Description:
One of 5 000 copies printed. The collection of verses was created by a poet Vladimir Lugovskoy (1901-1957) in 1930, after his trip to Turkmenia (Turkmen SSR, Central Asia). The Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic was established in 1924. The Bolshevik's policy sparked a rebellion in Turkmenistan, and in 1927 the Soviets lost control of the republic. Only in 1932 the main instigators were executed. During the forced policy of collectivization, traces of the nomadic lifestyle were destroyed, and the traditional Turkmen way of life changed.
OCLC locates two copies of this edition: in the UNC Library (part of the André Savine Collection) and in the New York Public Library.
