George Newnes, London, 1892. First edition, first issue. Illustrations. 8vo (9 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches), 317-pages. Original blue bevelled cloth blocked in gilt and black. All edges gilt. A little mostly marginal foxing, upper inner joint cracked and held on webbing. Headband bruised, spine a little dulled, several inner gutters cracked, some light dustmarking to binding. Overall very good. Free from inscriptions. First issue points being 'Violent' for Violet on p. 317, and no name on the street sign on the upper board.

Lacking 60% of backstrip, remaining backstrip detached at lower joint, some rubbing of corners, some light foxing within. The boards good, internally very sound. Rare.Inscribed " Charles Morgan with Grandfathers Love, Xmas, 1865" on front fly.
