This is however the laminated boards edition published a couple of years later using the 1st edition sheets without a frontis. This copy has foxing, small tears at the head of the spine and Biggles written in biro to the front pastedown and "The Gimlet Books" written on the rear pastedown. Solid copy of a hard to find title 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

England: Red Fox, 1995. Book. Very Good. Mass Market Paperback. 1st Edition. 1st Redfox printing, faded spine. First postwar printing with the Germans restored in the text as the bad guys, Nice copy of what is quite a common title. The Redfox edition has an outstanding feature not found in any of the editions after World War 2 in that it uses the text almost unaltered from the original Printing by John Hamilton. Later printings by Thames and Dean & Son (1952-1985) had text which is considerably altered from the original including changing the bad guys to the Russians and removing the technical details of the German aircraft. If you haven't got the thousands to spend on a John Hamilton edition and you want as close to the original text as possible then this is the edition for you. Later Dean reprints do not contain the illustrations in this early printing which pick up the illustrations from the 1st edition. The boards have a many small marks and worn/ soft corners.
