Brief portion of page one redacted (upper right), otherwise a Fine uncirculated copyAn early member of the radical feminist group Redstockings, Ms Cisler's important & prescient essay focuses on anti-abortion tactics & argues that settling for reform to existing law would result in a situation "in which abortion is grudgingly parceled out by hospital committee fiat to the few women who can 'prove' they've been raped, or who are crazy, or are in danger of bearing a defective baby." Quite uncommon, OCLC finds a single copy at the Wisconsin Historical Society.

Prior, although several states permitted some exceptions, abortion was essentially illegal in the United States. Interestingly, the New York legislation did not include a residency requirement, as Hawaii did, and in the first two years, women from other states accounted for 60% of abortions in New York. A Fine uncirculated copy Provides the text of a speech delivered by Anselma Dell'Olio at the Congress to Unite Women on May 30, 1970. Ms. Dell'Olio explains her dissatisfaction & provides reasons for leaving the movement to "return to the hordes of women living out their lives in quiet desperation." The author, who founded the New Feminist Theater, poignantly warns that "rage, masquerading as a pseudo-egalitarian radicalism under the 'pro-woman' banner," was turning into "frighteningly vicious anti-intellectual fascism of the left." Quite uncommon, OCLC locates two copies of this edition & another three variants.

Text toned, brief foxing mostly at endpapers & pastedowns, otherwise very good in good or better price-clipped dust jacket, lightly rubbed, with a small gouge in the front panel, a few nicks along the edges, & publisher's advertisements for other titles on the back panel with prices redacted. Publisher's light green flower motif cloth with a gilt-lettered black leather spine label. Laid in is the catalog card of Stewart Kidd, old & rare books department, descriptive of this copy.
Covers lightly browned mostly in the margins, toning at early & late leaves, otherwise very good.
The inscription is partially in Greek. The portion in English reads as follows: "Clara's charming nudes, not my little sketch will please you. April 1, 1928, Guido Bruno."
A series of charming stories, some mildly erotic, by "The Barnum of Bohemia," enhanced by the illustrations of Clara Tice, "The Queen of Greenwich Village." Contents include: "Adultery on Washington Square" & "The Nun and the Prostitute." Both Bruno & Tice ran afoul of Anthony Comstock & his Society for the Suppression of Vice.

An extremely clever catalog for the Roth Horowitz exhibition held October 28 through December 10, 1999. Presented as a wedding invitation for the marriage of Berman & Watts, the catalog actually showcases their art work. Includes seven illustrations by Beat Movement artist Wallace Berman from SEMINA and The David Meltzer archive & six illustrations by Fluxus artist Robert Watts from "Archive With Embedments."

San Francisco: published by the club, no date (pre zipcode, 1950's?). Promotional brochure, bifolium, light card stock, single sheet measuring 7.25 inches by 8 inches folded once vertically, illustrated including a two page spread of the performers in drag, with suggestions "for your drinking pleasure" on the rear panel offering Scotch for $1.15 and other distilled spirits at $1.10.
Slightly soiled, otherwise fine.
The club, which opened in 1936, certainly one of the first drag venues in the United States, was relegated to posterity in 1999.

Not only a wonderful gathering of recipes for vegetarian cuisine from a group of talented amateur chefs but also a nostalgic memento of Bethesda's cherished radio station. Broadcast from "high atop the Triangle Towers," WHFS was one of the country's first progressive rock stations. Contributors include Jane Frost, Darci Vanderhoff, Laurel Vaughn, Daniel McDonald, Ellen Cohen, & many others.

A rather bizarre zine, quite likely a one off, partially written by "Mabel" who is also apparently the compiler. Various contributors offer essays including "Steampunk as seen through the eyes of Olivia Candlelabra," "Visions of St. Gutenberg by Madame Chaos," &, of paricular note, an "Interview with documentary filmmaker Albert Vazquez" conducted by Mabel herself. Vazquez specialized (specializes ?) in short films often related to LGBTQ issues, homelessness, & counterculture.

Poorly printed causing ghosting & portions of text to be light but not illegible, lightly soiled, trace edge wear, otherwise Very Good Ms. Olah's essay, comprising the first 31 pages, takes Engels' Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State firmly to task, asserting among other things that his theory of capitalism causing private property is in error & that the actual cause is male supremacy. Following the essay, Helen Victry contributes a history of the labrys, a double axe commonly associated with female divinities. Described as a serial in OCLC, with 13 copies located under 2 accession numbers, no further issues appear to have been published.
