A fine copy in fine dust jacket.
Apparently a special edition of this title which was sold at the gift shop of the Inn, with their applied label on the front flap of the jacket. The dust jacket additionally features a photographic portrait of O'Connell in lieu of the more generic illustration on the regular edition & adds a sub-title: "From Relais & Chateaux ... Including Recipes from Patrick O'Connell of The Inn at Little Washington - Washington, Virginia." "From the technically challenging and groundbreaking to classic and traditional, the recipes featured all encourage the use of the freshest ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible..."

[Havana, Cuba]: Nuevo Fabrica de Hielo, SA, no date (ca 1925). First edition. Octavo (8.25" x 5"), 32 pages, illustrations from photographs throughout.Original pictorial, stapled, light card covers.
Soiled, foxed, couple small holes in the upper cover, moderate edge wear (including short tears & creasing), staples replaced, Good or so. Provides concise historical sketches of old Havana with accompanying illustrations. Additionally, of course, the pamphlet touts the company's beers which are "insuperable exquisite world-over known products, are our national pride, made 100% with the finest malts and best hops."
Quite uncommon, this version not found in OCLC although two copies with a variant publisher (described as the third edition) are located, one at the University of Illinois & another at the University of the West Indies as of 5/28/2023.

Chicago, New York, & Boston: Adams & Westlake Manufacturing Company, 1881. First edition. Oblong 16mo, unpaginated [16 pp & covers], illustrated, with pricing Original pale pink printed paper wraps, sewn Romaine p. 355. Light edge wear, soft vertical crease, margins sunned, Very Good Awarded the highest premium for oil stoves at the 1878 Paris Exposition, the company's products are "fully endorsed by the insurance and Fire Departments of Chicago."

Providence, Rhode Island: Livermore & Knight Co, (1899). First edition. Oblong 32mo, 35 pp., illustrated. Original maroon wraps lettered in silver on the upper cover.
Moderately soiled, brief edge wear, otherwise very good.
The author was manager of the Waldorf Astoria from 1892 to 1908.

[Boston: Boston: Crystal River Society ?], no date (ca. 1887). Broadsheet, 2 pp., small 4to (10" x 6"), with color-printed "map" from a woodcut on the recto depicting a train en route from "Drunkard's Curve" to the "Black Valley Country." The verso supplies statistics and "Questions for Study in Moral and Political Economy." Small losses at corners, a few tears without loss, otherwise very good.A variant available in various incarnations as early as 1863, this example not currently found in OCLC. The recto offers the "above map enlarged to 18 x 24 inches in colored lithograph sent by mail to any address for 50 cents," the verso offers the handbill at 3 cents each or $2 per hundred, to be ordered from the Crystal River Society of Boston. The map was also advertised in the Home Missionary (volume 60, 1887).

New York: Colonial Club, printed by Dempsey & Carroll, January 3, 1895. Small 4to, 6 leaves, illustrated, the title page printed on silk, the balance on thick card stock printed rectos only, the final leaf blank, ribbon-bound.
Lightly soiled & foxed, small stain on the unprinted lower cover, otherwise Very Good.
An elaborate menu for a "complimentary dinner presented to Col. D.S. Brown" at Manhattan's illustrious Colonial Club "by a few of his friends." Col. Brown was the first president of the club and about to embark on a tour of Egypt & Palestine. Two leaves bear the signatures in ink of attendees. The elegant meal featured Bouchée à la Montglas, Canvas-back Duck, & Diamond-back Terrapin a la Maryland.
As described in a contemporary account, "The menu cards were gotten up as souvenirs. The first page contained a fine representation of the Normannia, the second a series of pictures in colors illustrating the principal points of interest to be visited by Col. Dorchester, Massachusetts: Walter Baker & Co., two 16mo volumes, 1905 & 1908, each with 64 pages plus 4 leaves of plates printed recto & verso providing chromolithograph illustrations of deserts or the company's products. Publisher's embossed, pictorial, stapled light card covers housed in an illustrated, ribbon-bound folding sleeve opening to pockets for the pamphlets.
Staples rusted, otherwise fine. Sleeve with minor foxing/ soiling, light edge wear including a couple ot short tears, ribbon tie a bit frayed.
The pamphlets have different introductions but present the same recipes & illustrations. The sleeve highlights the company's 1904 World's Fair Grand Prize & touts their "53 highest awards in Europe & America." Although thr recipe books are relatively common, we have never seen another example or even a reference for the sleeve.

Covers moderately rubbed, scuffed, & soiled, internally toned, soiled, & occasionally foxed, staples rusted, otherwise good or better.
The third issue of Oscar Haimo's digest which was published annually from 1943 until 1978. Haimo was the founder of the International Bar Managers' Association, the long-time bartender at New York City's Pierre Hotel, & the creator of the General MacArthur Cocktail.

Octavo (9.5" x 7.75"), xvii & 206 pages, illustrated. Publisher's blue cloth-patterned paper over boards lettered in gilt on the spine & in blind on the upper cover, in pictorial dust jacket.

Jamie Shannon, who signs, replaced Emeril Lagasse as Executive Chef at Commander's Palace in 1991. He passed away from cancer in 2001 at age 40.

[Savannah, Georgia?]: Dixie Crystals [Savannah Sugar Refining Corporation], no date, ca 1950's 24mo, unpaginated [16 pp including covers], illustrations in color throughout. Original pictorial stapled paper wraps die cut in the shape of a cookie jar. Not separately recorded in OCLC.

The Savannah Sugar Refining Corporation was founded in 1916 & processed sugar from cane initially in Georgia, later expanding to Florida & Louisiana. The product line included Dixie Crystals, Evercane, Colonial, and Pioneer sugars. Merging in 1997 with Imperial Sugar, the operation continues today.
Featuring Chocolate Caramels, Pecan Patties, Walnut Brittle & more, the intriguing recipes in this charming pamphlet all seem to require the use of Dixie Crystals which, as we are informed, is "The Sweetest Sugar Ever Sold."

Lightly soiled, slight edge wear, otherwise very good or better.
The cover illustration features a white girl & an African American girl, each presenting a cake.
Presents recipes for jellies, cold desserts, frozen desserts, salads and savories, candies, and Invalid and convalescent recipes, all using Knox Gelatine. Additionbally includes "Hints for Serving."

Columbus, Ohio: J. L. Stelzig & Co., 1861. First edition. 8vo (8" x 5.25"), [1], 2 - 8 pages. Printed paper self wraps, the lower cover with woodcut depiction of the Delaware Grape. OCLC locates one copy as of 7/24/2023 (Ohio History Center, accession # 35317536).
Folded once horizontally, moderately toned & soiled, slight edge wear, otherwise very good.
Provides a description of the grape, instructions for planting, testimonials, & pricing for vines.
"The Delaware Grape was first introduced to the horticultural world about ten years ago; and since that time, it has been steadily but surely advancing in public estimation, until now, by almost universal consent, it takes the first place among all grapes, and is well designated by the Editor of the Horticulturist as the "King of the Natives." ~Excerpted from page one.

[Boston]: Hotel Somerset, 1910. 24mo, maroon limp leatherette folder lined in red satin, with the seal of the commission in gilt on the upper cover & an enameled brass pin of the Argentinian flag attached. A small bored hole in the rear cover suggests that a second pin, most probably the United States flag, was once included, though now lacking. Laid in, & within folded card stock covers (elaborately printed in gilt & illustrated in color with the flags of the United States & Argentina intertwined & surmounted by an anchor), is the menu & program of music (printed in blue, red, & gilt), with glassine dust jacket Additionally laid in is a duplicate of the menu on thick, bevel-edged heavy card stock which is embossed in gilt with the seal of Boston's Hotel Somerset.

No place [Chicago ?]: Price Baking Powder Company, (1887) "Ninth Edition" 16mo, 80 pp., illustrated. Original pictorial paper wraps, stapled.
Moderately soiled, toned, hanging hole (as issued), otherwise very good.
In addition to "Cream of Tartar Baking Powder," the company also provided "delicious flavoring extracts," which, of course, feature prominently in the recipes The upper cover depicts in color a lovely lass gathering grapes in France & the lower cover promotes "Wm. Brown Choice Family Groceries" of Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C.: The Shoreham [Hotel], John T. Devine, manager, printed by Loughead & Co. of Philadelphia, Easter Sunday, March 31, 1907. Illustrated card stock, single sheet measuring 6.5 inches by 16 inches folded once vertically as issued, cord bound to enclose a printed menu. Lightly soiled, toned, & foxed, trace edge wear, cording partially frayed, otherwise Very good. A really charming menu, the front cover depicts a pair of chicks drawing a cart with another chick driving, and a dogwood tree in bloom in the background. Embossed in silver is "Easter Greeting" and the logo of the Shoreham. Dinner sounds fabulous however baby chicks were not offered.

Saint Louis, [Missouri]: The National Druggist, printed by Woodward & Tiernan, 1906. 4to, 16 unnumbered pages. Original cord bound printed paper wraps.
Covers chipped, splitting at the spine, toned & lightly soiled, occasional smudges within, otherwise Good.
The National Druggist, a monthly, long-running periodical, was quite opposed to the provisions of the 1906 Pure Food & Drug Act which required labels naming active ingredients, provided for inspections, & introduced criminal penalties for traffickers in adulterated or mislabeled food and drug products.Uncommon, not found in OCLC as of 3/25/2020.

San Francisco: published by the club, no date (pre zipcode, 1950's?). Promotional brochure, bifolium, light card stock, single sheet measuring 7.25 inches by 8 inches folded once vertically, illustrated including a two page spread of the performers in drag, with suggestions "for your drinking pleasure" on the rear panel offering Scotch for $1.15 and other distilled spirits at $1.10.
Slightly soiled, otherwise fine.
The club, which opened in 1936, certainly one of the first drag venues in the United States, was relegated to posterity in 1999.

New Haven, Connecticut: E.P. Best Mfg. Co., no date (ca. 1890). Folio (approximately 15" x 10"), embossed chromolithograph on thick card stock.
Modest edge wear, light soiling, verso with remnants of glue (apparently once mounted) & a few scuffs, Very Good. Undoubtedly a stock image adapted to the needs of this enterprise, the pastoral vignette of grazing cows along a meandering stream, surrounded by a border of colorful flowers, seems incongruous with the nature of the business. Not found in OCLC although trade cards by EP Best are represented.

Hamburg, Germany: Hamburg-Amerika Line, printed by Petermann, Wednesday, May 23, 1932. Octavo (8.5" x 6.25"), 12 unnumbered pages & covers, with illustrated upper cover & 7 full page lithographed plates depicting, apparently, courses to be served for the event surrounded by various whimsical characters including dancing cutlery, winged creatures, & nymphs. Printed on ribbon-bound thick card stock.
Ribbon faded, tattered & frayed, lightly soiled & toned, slight edge wear, otherwise very good.
An unusual presentation featuring the fantastical illustrations of Heroux. Not found in OCLC or elsewhere as of 11/17/2023.

[Montreal]: B & D Press, (2011) First edition. Miniature 'Zine (1 inch x 1 inch), publisher's printed & decorated paper wraps with fold-over flap containing 23 laser printed accordion fold unnumbered pages which, as described by the publisher, is "an image and text-based book of the various things that people don't eat." Not found in OCLC as of 4/26/2020. A Fine copy As additionally noted by the publisher on their website, who indicate that the title is sold out, Food Taboos was "created for the Teenie Weenie Zine Machine project of Jamie Q, London, Ontario." Ms. Aquino is also known for her series entitled The Life and Times of Butch Dykes which "tell the real stories of women who challenged stale notions of gender and sexuality through their lives and work."
