First edition. 8vo, 64 & [1] pages of printed text followed by 57 decorated & illustrated pages to record births, deaths, marriages, etc, of which 30 contain annotations in manuscript relative to John Grant (1688 - 1776), a British emigrant to Boston, & descendants. Original black cloth lettered & decorated in gilt & blind. Sabin/ Dictionary of Books Relating to America C 23765 (erroneously providing 1851 as year of publication).

Octavo (9.75" x 6.25"), 6 unnumbered leaves followed by 50 leaves printed recto only, with illustrations from photographs interleaved & a folding chart providing "Ancestry of the Family of Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Plant." Publisher's gilt-lettered pebbled maroon cloth. Laid in are 9 printed sheets providing corrections & additions.
Lightly rubbed, gilt dull, brief wear at corners, otherwise very good.

"Chiefly, a record of ancestors of Increase Cook Plant and his wife Elizabeth M. Hazelhurst Plant. Richmond, Virginia: Offprint, originally published in the Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, 1935. First separate printing, this copy with the author's presentation slip pasted to the verso of the front cover. Octavo (9" x 6"), 36 pages. Original printed, stapled stiff paper wraps.
Covers lightly sunned & soiled, otherwise Fine.
The author was the first state archivist in Virginia. He "worked to make the state's records more accessible and to ensure that local records were stored in fireproof buildings." (~Encyclopedia Virginia).
