Octavo (9.75" x 6.25"), 6 unnumbered leaves followed by 50 leaves printed recto only, with illustrations from photographs interleaved & a folding chart providing "Ancestry of the Family of Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Plant." Publisher's gilt-lettered pebbled maroon cloth. Laid in are 9 printed sheets providing corrections & additions.
Lightly rubbed, gilt dull, brief wear at corners, otherwise very good.

"Chiefly, a record of ancestors of Increase Cook Plant and his wife Elizabeth M. Hazelhurst Plant. Increase was the son of Timothy and Chloe (Dickerman) Plant and was born 27 February 1814 in New Haven, Connecticut. He married first Charlotte Walker on 24 July 1838. The author was the first state archivist in Virginia. He "worked to make the state's records more accessible and to ensure that local records were stored in fireproof buildings." (~Encyclopedia Virginia).
