Description:
No place [New York ?]: no publisher, no date [1882, with calendar for 1883]. Sextodecimo (6" x 4"), 32 pages plus wraps, with illustrations from woodcuts throughout, the covers in color depicting "The Diver" on the front & "One of the Children Who Took Castoria" on the back. Publisher's pictorial paper wraps, sewn, with threaded hanging hole. Five pages with old news clippings pasted in obscuring text but providing recipes, covers lightly soiled, with moderate edge wear, brief rubbing, & short separation at the spine, sporadic foxing & toning, otherwise Good or better. A really interesting promotional pamphlet which even includes a testimonial from circus master P.T. Barnum who recommends Centaur Liniment which he used for his elephants. OCLC Accession number 43753721, finding a single copy at the University of Rochester.Lightly toned brief edge wear, otherwise very good.A earlier version was published in 1893.The Erie Medical Company was in business from 1885 to 1922. Their principle product was a vacuum appliance which, allegedly, instantly caused "vigorous circulation of the blood" (~Edward C. Atwater Collection of American Popular Medicine and Health Reform).
