Autograph in ink on engraved United States Senate Chamber admission pass which has not been filled out. [Washington, D.C.], no date (circa 1930). Measures 2.75 inches by 4.25 inches, with annotation in ink in a different hand at the bottom of the card: "1928 - 1932."
Removed from a scrapbook leaving remnants of glue residue & paper on the verso, lightly toned, otherwise Very Good.
Charles Curtis, 31st Vice President of the United States, elected with Herbert Hoover, was a member of the Kaw Nation and the first Native American to reach either of the highest offices in the federal executive branch.

Light edge wear along the folded side, small loss just touching text affecting pp. 5/6, otherwise Very Good. A supporter of George McClellan, Ticknor writes in part: "No more awful spectacle can be contemplated than that of a great, powerful and energetic nation, who have no rule of action but the rule of a written Constitution, and who have lost their fidelity to its requirements. We have been so situated through three whole years of Civil War, that it has been in the power of extreme and violent men to denounce a pure and high regard for the limitations of our fundamental law as treason to the Union ..." The author, who was co-counsel for Dred Scott, concludes his essay with a series of "Mottoes fot the Campaign" selected from the writings of McClellan.

Top edges of the text blocks a little dusty, volume xi with small, unobtrusive white streak at the bottom of the spine, otherwise Fine. Please note, this set is lacking volume xii which includes an anthology & part of the index. Addressing "Dear Bob," Kennedy declines an invitation to attend a social event for his daughter, noting that he will be in Palm Beach from "the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas." Kennedy does ask to be kept on the list as "even [he] might get there some day."

Twenty-six volumes, I through XXVI (of 28), octavos (8.75" x 6.25"), variously paginated, each volume illustrated with plates from paintings, engravings, etchings, drawings, photos, maps, etc., including frontispieces, with tissue-guards. Publisher's three-quarter crushed dark blue morocco & marbled paper over boards by Haddon & Company (signed), the spines in six compartments separated by raised bands, lettered or decorated in gilt in all compartments. Top edges gilt, the others uncut.
Occasional very minor rubbing mostly affecting raised bands, one volume with slight wear at the top of the spine, a bit of toning to marbled paper, hinge started in volume one (still secure), otherwise near fine.
