Sixteen issues of the Abnaki Herald, the journal of the nation's oldest YMCA all boy's camp. The camp was founded by Byron Clark in 1901 and is still in existence today. The theme of the journal reflects the camp motto, "Help the Other Fellow."

Broadsheet, 2 pp., small 4to (10" x 6"), with color-printed "map" from a woodcut on the recto depicting a train en route from "Drunkard's Curve" to the "Black Valley Country." The verso supplies statistics and "Questions for Study in Moral and Political Economy." Small losses at corners, a few tears without loss, otherwise very good.A variant available in various incarnations as early as 1863, this example not currently found in OCLC. The recto offers the "above map enlarged to 18 x 24 inches in colored lithograph sent by mail to any address for 50 cents," the verso offers the handbill at 3 cents each or $2 per hundred, to be ordered from the Crystal River Society of Boston. The map was also advertised in the Home Missionary (volume 60, 1887).

Hartford, [Connecticut]: H.E. Robins and Co., 1853. Later printing. Octavo (8" x 5"), x & [11] - 402 pages, with engraved half title & full page illustrations from woodcuts. Publisher's red cloth elaborately lettered & decorated in gilt. All edges gilt.
Spine gilt dull, edge wear including shallow losses at the spine extremities, corners bruised, internally toned & foxed, light stain in the lower margin affecting early leaves, previous owner's name & date in pencil at the ffep, otherwise good.
Originally published in 1849. Author Hollis Read also wrote the influential Negro Problem Solved, or, Africa as She Was, as She Is, and as She Shall Be: Her Curse and Her Cure.
