Binding soiled, spine browned, edges lightly rubbed, brief wear at corners, text toned, Previous owner's name, address & presentation in ink & pencil at the ffep, a good or better copy.
A Russell Sage Foundation Publication by Ms. Richmond who, along with Jane Addams, is regarded as the mother of professional social work.

New York: Charities Publication Committee, 1911. Second printing. Octavo (8" x 5.5"), xii & 213 pages plus [4] pages of advertisements. Publisher's olive cloth lettered in gilt on the spine & upper cover.
Spine dull, brief wear at extremities, binding cracked at p. 212 (still secure), text moderately toned, browning at p. 46 from removed newsclipping, text a bit toned, previous owner's name, date, & address in ink & pencil at front pastedown & ffep, good or better & still quite useful.
The author was secretary of the New York State Tenement House Commission & instrumental in drafting the New York State Tenement House Act which mandated better fire exits and running water for bathrooms in every tenement.
