Black-and-white print of Thomas Sully painting of 1843, Cinderella at the Kitchen Fire, showing Cinderella sitting in front of the fire playing with a cat, her stepsisters in the next room in front of a mirror. No date or other publication information; the paper suggests mid- to late-19th century. In Fine Condition: clean and crisp.

Bear Gap, Pa, 1822. Near Fine. 1 handwritten letter from W.H. Sayre, Bear Gap, Pa., to Powell Stackhouse, Philadelphia. Sayre reports that "my cause was not tried this last court." He hopes that Stackhouse will be able to find "the descriptive part" of Stackhouse's deed. If he can find it and send it to Sayre by the next court, in April, "this will render us secure." Powell Stackhouse (1785-1863) and his wife, Edith Stackhouse (1786-1866), were Quakers and members of Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. He began as a cabinetmaker in the 1810s; was a china merchant for a few years, following his father's profession; and in 1818 became a stove pattern maker. In the 1820s he continued in the iron stove business, and in 1831 he received a patent for an improvement in stoves. He became a prominent stove manufacturer, employing iron from furnaces throughout Pennsylvania; by the end of the century his grandson, Powell Stackhouse (b. 1840), was president of Cambria Iron Co. On 2 Aug. 1755 a quadrupartite deed involving #1 Thomas Benfield of Cheltenham in Gloucester County, innholder; #2 Thomas White, the elder, of the same place, yeoman, and Thomas White, the younger, of the parish of Cheltenham, yeoman; #3 John Ellis of the city of Gloucester, ironmonger; and #4 Daniel Cooke of Cheltenham, of the city of Gloucester, tallowchandler. Relates to about 6 acres of land in the parish of Cheltenham. Signed by Thomas Benfield and both Thomas Whites, each with a wax seal. Six blue 6-pence stamps along one side; one GR 248 stamp on the outside. In Very Good Condition: separation at one fold, with minor loss; light soiling; solid.

1945. Near Fine. 1 typed letter, signed by President Herbert Hoover, on his personal stationery. Thanking Mrs. Joseph W. Jones of Bristol, Tennessee, who had sent a $10 donation to the Boys' Clubs of America in response to Hoover's appeal in the organization's behalf. Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) served as the 31st president of the United States from 1929 to 1933. After leaving the presidency, he and his wife had lived at Palo Alto, California. Following her death in 1944 he relocated to New York City; the address on this letter is 420 Lexington Ave., NYC. In Near Fine Condition: two horizontal folds; light additional creasing; clean and solid.

Kappa Alpha Phi was a foreign service fraternity founded in 1920 at Georgetown University; it became inactive in the mid 1960s. This group of photographs consists of: "Charter members Beta Chapter at installation 1921" (20 x 25 cm.); basketball team (19 x 24 cm.) on mat (22 x 28 cm.), which is undated but consists of men in the 1926 group photograph; 1923 photograph of 33 men on the front steps of the house (28 x 41 cm.); 1924 photograph of 30 men (29 x 47 cm.); 1925 photograph of 22 men (26 x 47 cm.); 1926 photograph of 31 men (29 x 49 cm.); 1927 photograph of 28 men (28 x 41 cm.); 1928 photograph of 19 men (27 x 34 cm.); 1929 photograph of 24 men (25 x 34 cm.); and 1932 photograph of 23 men (25 x 33 cm.). 1880. Near Fine. 13 handwritten letters to Pennsylvania Representative William Ward. There are two topics addressed by these letters. One topic is who Ward will recommend for a position with the Internal Revenue under James Ashworth (1836-1882), a Philadelphian who had been a captain during the Civil War and as an Internal Revenue official favored appointing an ex-soldier from his district for the position. The other topic is local support for Ward running for the Republican nomination for Senate in 1881. John I. Mitchell was the ultimate Republican candidate; he won against the sitting Democrat, William A. Wallace. William Ward (1837-1895) was born in Philadelphia and attended Girard College, the boarding school established by Stephen Girard (1750-1831) for poor, white, male orphans. Articles of agreement dated 16 Oct. 1676 involving 1) John Palmer, one of the aldermen of the borough of Stamford, and his son John Palmer; 2) Anna Pawley, daughter of Robert Pawley, late of South Croyston or Croxton, and Joyce Pawley widow of Robert Francis Needham of Leicester County, gentleman; and 3) Samuel Needham of Trinity College, Cambridge. Regards the disposition of property in Stamford, Leicester County, England, relating to the impending marriage between John Palmer, the younger, and Anna Pawley. Signed by John Palmer, the elder, John Palmer, Jr., and Anna Pawley, and by witnesses John Hall, Luke Blythe, William Hallewell, and Thomas Smaron. On 13 March 1689 Thomas Mercer, the elder, of Hawkhurst, Kent Co., tanner, gave to his oldest son, Thomas Mercer, the younger, the estate called Waters with its house, barns, orchards, gardens, etc., in Hawkhurst, Kent Co., England, containing 40 acres; the estate called Hayesgate of 30 acres; and another of 10 acres. Signed by Thomas Mercer, senior, and the witnesses -- Sarah Mercer, Ele? Sharpe, and John Ffoord. Dated old style 1688. In Very Good Condition: old staining; solid.

1694. Very Good +. 1 handwritten parchment deed (43 x 60 cm.), folded. Elaborate initial letter. Dated 27 March 1694, the document involves Richard Reynolds, the younger, a carpenter of Hawkhurst, Kent Co., England, and William Couchman, clothier, of Cranbrook, Kent Co., and properties in Hawkhurst. Signed by Couchman with a seal, and by witnesses Thomas Morten, John Sharpe, Josiah Colvill, and Samuel Dunant. In Very Good+ Condition: light soiling, primarily on outer sections.

1718. Fine. Handwritten parchment lease dated 26 March 1718. Susanna Springett, the elder of Hawkhurst, Kent Co., widow, and Susanna Springett, the younger of Hawkhurst, spinster, only daughter and heir of Richard Springett, late of Hawkhurst, yeoman, lease for one year to Thomas Dunk of Little Chelsea, Middlesex Co., knight, a house, barn, oast house, gardens, orchards, etc. on 20 acres in Hawkhurst for 5 shillings. With the seals and signatures of both women and a stamp. Also signed by witnesses Sam Durrant and Sam Durrant, Jun. The property was on Woodsden Lane and next to other property owned by Sir Thomas Dunk, who died later that year. In Fine Condition: clean and crisp.

Lady Frances Arundell (d. 1769)of Allerton Mauleverer, York Co., widow, gives to Edward Pearce of Truro burough, Cornmall Co., surgeon, Penpolwartha in Cornwall for 57 pounds and annual rent as a life interest during the life of Edward Pearce, his sister Grace Pearce, and Richard Johns, son of Stephen Johns (age 3). Witnessed by James Willyams and James Willyams, Jr. In Near Fine Condition: exterior is lightly soiled; otherwise, clean and crisp.

1811. Very Good +. 1 handwritten document. [4] p.; 35 cm. Embossed stamp indicating the payment of one pound 10 shillings. signed by John Osborne with his seal. Also signed by witnesses P. A. French and Charles Wardroper. A deed of gift from John Osborne, esquire, of Lillesden in Hawkhurst Parish in Kent County, England, to Francis George Cox Burridge, esquire, and his wife, Mary, Osborne's only child, giving all his personal household items and implements of husbandry. Francis G. C. Barridge (1779-1830) was a captain in the first Somerset militia. He married Mary Osborne (b. 1791) in 1806. By the time of his death in 1830, they were in Kentucky. In Very Good+ Condition: exterior is lightly soiled; interior is clean and crisp.

1865. Near Fine. 1 sheet with handwritten letter dated March 10, 1865, offering to sell ingot brass consisting of pure copper 70 parts and pure N.Y. spelter 30 parts at $0.32 per pound. Embossed stamp in upper left-hand corner reading "Foster & Roby, Boston." Foster & Roby was established in 1863 by William T. Foster and William Gould Roby; in 1877 it became William T. Foster & Co. The price reflects the high prices commanded by brass during the American Civil War. In Near Fine Condition: light creasing; clean and bright.

Weir, and the Orange County notary public, Geo. H. Clark. In Very Good Condition: light folds; just starting to separate at ends of folds; clean and crisp.

Stover (1841-1914), also of Towamensing Township, for $2,121 a 10-acre tract of woodland in Towamensing Township on the Green Lane Road. Signed by Elijah Stover and David S. 1890. Near Fine. 1 handwritten document. Elijah Stover (1827-1878) and David S. Stover (1836-1916), executors of the will of their father, Jacob K. Stover (1800-1875), late of Towamensing Township, Montgomery County, Pa., present an account of the funds they handled as the trustees of their sister Hannah Stover Harley (1829-1900). From 1876 to 1883, she received $75 a year, and from 1884 to 1889 $150 a year, and $300 in 1890, at which time her legacy amounted to $3,317. This account was certified in 1891 and signed by attorney E. L. Slough and Montgomery County Register of Wills Albert Helffenstein (1840-1910), with the embossed stamp of the office. Signed on the back by Harry W. Akins (1866-1934), deputy clerk of the Montgomery County Orphans Court. In Near Fine Condition: two ink smudges; otherwise, clean and solid.
