Author Ralf Bock reveals the sensuality of Loos's interior designs, demonstrating that Loos was not an architect of the "white modern movement," but rather, he fought against it. A careful analysis of Loos's ideology and oeuvre, this book features 30 existing projects in 160 extraordinary full-color images by the celebrated French photographer Philippe Ruault, who has completely rephotographed Loos's works. The blueprints depict the effects of disasters on well-known buildings, as in the Oklahoma City bombing; the 2002 shooting at L.A.X.; Texas A&M Bonfire Tower, 1999; Moscow Nord-Ost Theatre Siege, 2002; the Bundy Residence (Nicole Brown Simpson); and the Pirelli Tower, Milan (small plane). Prints are housed in a ribbon portfolio with gilt titling, including a cute little bomb symbol. Excellent condition all around though portfolio has some abrasions on the back. New York: Roof Books, 2007. Very Good minus softcover with lay-ins (and paste-ins). 9 x 7 inches, 224 pages. Some minor discoloration and scraping at top edge of front cover. This copy may have been Gins and Arakawa's pre-publication copy, as pasted over some lines of text is corrected text -- see photos. This occurs on roughly thirty pages of the book, in some cases single words are being replaced/corrected; in other cases larger swathes of text. In addition, laid in are a "REVIEW COPY" insert from the publisher and a thin printed slip that reads "Be assured that the second printing of this incendiary manual of non-dying will be free of the many typos found within these pages" -- clearly Gins' language. No other review copies of this title are known by us to exist.

Printed acetate jacket has closed tears at rear as well as a few pieces missing as well as one closed tear on front & a chip at base and a few minor scuffs; otherwise it' bright, firm and clean. 160 pages, pictorial endpapers and profuse illustrations . Third, revised edition. Only one of two sheets -- the "Micrographs of zirconium from the Atomic Resolution Microscope at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory" laid in (say that 10 times fast.) A major document and a work of art in its own right. Further images upon request.

NY: Praeger, 1974. VG-/G+. Very Good- condition in oblong brown cloth covered boards in a Good only DJ. 196 glorious pages, b/w ills. throughout. The book has ghost shadows on front and rear endpapers and it's top edge is somewhat dusty and darkened. Pages slightly yellowing; previous owner (architect's) name to front free endpaper. DJ has a 15 inch triangular piece missing from front cover near spine, a smaller piece missing at rear around the corner and heavy rubbing and a chip to fore-edge at the base. In all sturdy and still a pleasure to read. Archival mylar protection mars our photos (identical shot on front and back).
