Jacket shows light rubbing to spine panel, slight bumps to ends of spine panel, and soiling to rear panel. FIRST EDITION. A first-person account of ranch life on the "Staked Plains," the vast tablelands of eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. The author moved to the Llano Estacado in 1887. His wrote extensively about his experiences as a cowboy in newspapers and periodicals under the pen name, "Ol' Waddy.

Attractive bookplate signed (in print) by Ainslee Hewett, dated 1913, on blank verso of front free endpaper. [Hewett (1880-1963), an artist from Louisville, Kentucky was active as a bookplate designer from 1909 to 1951. This bookplate bears the names of Edwin Vivian Thompson and Ida Bette Halbreath Thompson.] FIRST EDITION.

Jacket has a few small chips, not affecting lettering, including a dime size chip to the base of the spine panel, and some tears with internal tape repairs. FIRST EDITION.
