Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, [1970]. 278 pages, plus plates reproducing historic photographs. Original cloth. [23.5 cm.] A fine copy in very good plus dust jacket. Jacket shows light rubbing to spine panel, slight bumps to ends of spine panel, and soiling to rear panel. FIRST EDITION. A first-person account of ranch life on the "Staked Plains," the vast tablelands of eastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle. The author moved to the Llano Estacado in 1887. His wrote extensively about his experiences as a cowboy in newspapers and periodicals under the pen name, "Ol' Waddy.

Spine shows a just a hint of sun, foxing to margins of plates and facing pages, else a clean, solid copy. Attractive bookplate signed (in print) by Ainslee Hewett, dated 1913, on blank verso of front free endpaper. [Hewett (1880-1963), an artist from Louisville, Kentucky was active as a bookplate designer from 1909 to 1951. This bookplate bears the names of Edwin Vivian Thompson and Ida Bette Halbreath Thompson.] FIRST EDITION.

[23.5 cm.] A very good plus copy in about very good dust jacket. Book is slightly bumped on corners and shows some faint marginal foxing to plates and facing pages. Jacket is sunned (unevenly on front and rear panels) and has tiny tear to hinge between spine and rear panels. FIRST EDITION. Recounts Stevenson's honeymoon in Napa Valley, California, a journey which served as the basis for his book, "The Silverado Squatters."

Cloth shows light traces of foxing at head of spine and along top edges of boards, and some minor rubbing to spine ends. Occasional and very light pencil marks in the margins, interior otherwise clean. Jacket has a few small chips, not affecting lettering, including a dime size chip to the base of the spine panel, and some tears with internal tape repairs. FIRST EDITION. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY SOUTHERN HISTORIAN, FLETCHER M. GREEN, on the front free endpaper. The inscription indicates he used this copy for his review of the book in "The Emory University Quarterly."
