About This Item

Garden City: Doubleday & Company, 1967. Only Edition. Very Good +. Wayne R Westphal and John E Dallman. When Roger Tory Peterson began developing hIs Field Guides in 1934, little did he know there would be competition from Professors Emlen and Archbald at the University of Wisconsin. HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents QUICK KEY GUIDE TO BIRDS. This new system of identification starts with 8 unnumbered pages listing the species which are illustrated on the following 6 double pages, followed by 53 swivel-out punch cards representing the bird's characteristics. Peterson was obviously the winner of the Bird Guide competition, making this "other" guide a RARE COLLECTOR'S ITEM. The overall condition is Very Good Plus. Pages = Very Good Plus: foxing to the first few pages only, else white, clear, tight, sharp, no markings. Cover (heavy blue glossy card stock with black and white illustrations of 4 birds on white, yellow and black backgrounds, with particulars in white and black) = NEAR FINE: light crease to front, light rubbing to all, else clear, colorful, tight, sharp and square.
