About This Item
New York: Random House, 1994. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The award-winning Baker's fourth novel is a humorous sex story about a young man, Arno Strine, who has learned how to stop time and likes to use his discovery to undress women. He is hard at work on his autobiography which he is titling, "The Fermata." A fermata is a musical notation meaning to prolong a note, chord or rest beyond its given time value. First edition, first printing (as stated, with Random House's complete numberline beginning with 2). About 6 x 8 1/2 inches, 303 pages in white paper-covered boards with black backstrip. Author's initials and fermata notation centered on front cover. Lettering in green on spine. Dustjacket is white with green fermata notation centered on both front and back panels. White and green lettering on black strip on spine. Boards and text are complete and unmarked with a touch of soiling and shelf wear. Not ex-library, not remaindered. No tears, creases or bumped corners. Dustjacket's condition is the same. Not price-clipped, no noticeable flaws or damage. A collectable copy of a book that demonstrates Baker's talent for having fun writing about sex.
