Slight wear and strip of faint toning/soil to wrapper edges; slight crease to lower corner of fascicles. Catalogue of orthopedic corsets, braces, and supports to treat various medical issues: sciatica, hip disease, Genu valgum (knock knees), joint pain, ankylosis, infantile paralysis (polio), etc. Scarce. Circa 1940s. 6" x 4-1/4". 64 pp. Stapled mint wrappers printed in dark green and red, stamp of Endo Products Inc. to front wrapper. Minor soil to inside rear wrapper; slight oxidization to staples. A very good example. Promotional booklet for Endo Products Inc., advocating for the beneficial uses of intravenous medication. Medicines and their uses are sold here by the ampule, with prices included for each. Although intravenous therapy was developed in the mid-19th century, it was only in the 1930s that it was developed more fully, and it still wasn't widely used until the 1950s.Scarce. Some details of illustrations on outer panels neatly colored in with crayon and ink; trimmed slightly unevenly; minor wear. A brutally honest first aid guide for soldiers, containing instructions about how to stop bleeding ("A man bleeds to death very quickly. Stop it with your hands. There is no time to wash. Put your fist into the wound..."), apply tourniquets and splints, carry a wounded comrade during battle, when and when not to give a wounded man a drink, treating gas exposure and phosporous burns, and above all to maintain "courage in the presence of a wounded man. Light wear and some soiling/staining; scuff to one card, slightly affecting image. An set of begging cards depicting the treatment of Alonzo Souslin for a broken neck, including pictures of his wife and young son and his address at the base of each card. Promotional piece for Ray Vaughn Pierce ("an outstanding period example of a man who combined scientific (or quasi-scientific) credentials, remarkable business acumen, an accurate sense of the public temper, and an unabashed capacity for self promotion," per Atwater 2798) and his consultation and manufacturing center, the World's Dispensary. Marketed toward women, the booklet primarily advertises "Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets" as a cure-all for everything from general weakness to constipation and the pain of childbirth. Additional plugs are included for Pierce's Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute, his People's Medical Advisor, and various salves and ointments. Scuffing to front cover; two short tears to fore-edge of cover and most leaves, not affecting text. Movie tie-in booklet for "The Case of Dr. Laurent," which promoted the then-newfangled techniques of Dr. Fernand Lamaze as well as the importance of educating expectant mothers to reduce fear of childbirth. Three press photos showing the history-making televised hospital room birth of Gordon Campbell Kerr, who was born by Caesarean section on December 2, 1952 to a young Denver couple. The birth was carried on 49 television stations and watched by millions.

Promotional card providing the contact details for the Visiting Nurse Assocation of New Britain, Connecticut, as well as a detailed description of the services and rates offered. In addition to caring for sick patients, the nurses educated pregnant women about hygiene, assisted doctors during a woman's confinement in pregnancy, gave maternity care to new mothers and babies, held "Well Baby Conferences, where babies are weighed and mothers advised as to their proper care," cared for all policy holders who were entitled to care, and tought health.
