Yellow stapled wrappers printed in black and green, cover art by Mohawk artist Rokwaho (Daniel Thompson). Minor wear to wrappers, very slight bump to upper corner. Inscribed by the author on the title page, signed "Maurice". The gay, Native American poet's fifth book, largely focusing on his childhood in the Mohawk Nation. From the inside cover: "Some of the poems express his people's reverence for their land and the result of its invasion by outsiders from Colonial times to the present. Creation themes abound in symbol, story and cultural rememberings in which the animals and plants have their significance. Pawhuska, Oklahoma: Department of the Interior, Osage Indian Agency, 1958. Very Good. 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inches. [8]pp including wrappers. Stapled self-wrappers printed in black, b&w illustration to front wrapper. Front wrapper toned; corner creased. Postmarked auction catalog for oil and gas leases on Osage tribal land. Such auctions were a regular occurrence, dating back until at least the 1920s, and regular netted millions of dollars for the Osage tribe. Nevertheless, these auction catalogs appear to be quite scarce, with only one, from 1921, located in OCLC.
