Berrien - an old C.H.S. boy. / May 1900"; Berrien who was of the class of 1900 returned to the Academy as a head football coach from 1908 to 1910, He was captain of the USS Nicholson during WWI; Page 13/14 (with photo and graduating information about Berrien) is very slightly loosened and shows a light smudge; Volume is otherwise tight, intact, and very clean.

No. 1: pp 1-266, plus four plates of which three are hand colored, two by J. G. Keulemans. Covers show a small chip and two inch crease. A few leaves in last half of issue show small creases at upper outside corners. No. 2: pp 267-570, plus six colored plates. Covers show light handling wear, and bottom cover shows a small chip. No. 3: pp 571-590. Slight handling wear. No. 4: pp 591-584, plus five plates of which four are hand colored, two more by Keulemans. No. 5: pp 685-723 & vii. Covers shows general light handling, though remain bright with good lettering. Plates are all very good. Overall each issue remains tight, as well as clean and intact save for the stated faults. All plates remain very good. A nice, solid, set of the first five issues making up Volume I.

Leo Roberts, SC, USN (1916-1996, and whose papers are now held at the Harry S. Truman Library). Three additional paragraphs presenting this book from Leo Roberts to his brother Keith Roberts. There is a moderate amount of marginalia and some underlining, in the hand of Leo Roberts, who is included in the book, and appears to have contributed information used by the author. Although some of the notes are of a personal nature (i.e. "I dated his daughter," the majority are of a scholarly/historical nature providing additional facts and details. Volume is otherwise tight and fairly clean, with only a couple of very small and light smudges/stains. Dust jacket remains very clean, though shows a little very light wear over head of spine. Jacket is now protected in a clear mylar sleeve.
