Signed by Louise Doughty to the title page, and with red boards and silver text to the spine, the book is close to fine condition - marred only by a random inscription to the inner rear leaf, and by one page which has had its corner folded down.
The dust-wrapper is complete and unclipped showing the price of £12.99, and it has a promotional sticker to the front with a quote from Helen Dunmore.
The wrapper has slight creasing to its edges and slight wear to just one corner.

First edition, first impression of Ian McEwan's third novel, published by Jonathan Cape in 1987. Book and dust-wrapper are both close to fine. The book is in black boards with silver lettering to the spine. The book is unread and has no bumps or marks, just very slightly cocked. The unclipped dust-wrapper is also in great condition with no tears or edge-wear, just a small semi-circular smudge to the bottom of the inner front flap (please see photos). A very nice copy at a reasonable price.

Very good copy of this UK first edition with complete unclipped dustjacket. The colourful jacket, designed by Hans Tisdall, has some old tapemarks to the interior and two small closed tears to the top as well as some edgewear.
The book also has old tape marks to the inner covers and first two pages. Otherwise in great condition with just some foxing to the top of the page-block.

This is an omnibus edition of Phillpotts' "Human Boy" stories, including "The Human Boy", "The Human Boy Again", "The Human Boy and the War", "The Human Boy's Diary" and "From the Angle of Seventeen".The contemporary inscription "To Sam" from his aunty and uncle is dated Christmas 1931, and the inner front cover bears the stamp of Sam Boothroyd.The frontispiece by Raven Hill, the Punch/Strand cartoonist and illustrator of some of Kipling's novels including Kipps, is partly replicated on the front of the dustwrapper.The salmon-pink boards have black text to the front and spine, with some minor fading.The rare dust-wrapper, designed by Wallace, is complete but battered, price-clipped and edge-worn. It appears reconstituted with a tidy piece of taping to the inside of its spine, which also disguises some minor loss.

A lovely first UK edition, first printing, of Franzen's great novel that won him a National Book Award and for which he was made a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.The book is in fantastic condition with just some slight darkening of the pages.The dust-wrapper is similarly in beautiful condition, unclipped with the £17.99 new price, and it has been protected by a mylar cover.This is a large, relatively heavy book so postage will have to be at cost.
