This is the original printing of the booklet, issued from the Quartermaster General's Office as General Orders No. 12, March 2, 1869. It is the final of four volumes published from 1868-69. According to the forwarding letter printed at the beginning, this volume records "the removal of sixty-three thousand eight hundred and forty-seven bodies, from two hundred and ninety-five different locations to twenty-three of the National Cemeteries." Tables for 12 states indicate the original sites and how many remains were removed from those sites, dates of removal and final resting places. NOTE: This is a statistical report; no names of soldiers or POWs are provided in the counts Rare.
