'The Fly [alien]'. 11" x 17", image continues nearly to the edges. Slightly age-toned, else Fine. See scans. Protected within matting board, but not framed or matted. Unsigned, at least on the front. An extraordinarily textured, detailed, labor-intensive piece by Anacleto - a rare, EARLY published piece - executed for Harrier in his so-called "struggling years" in the Philippines, prior to his coming statewide to work for Marvel and DC etc . In the image, an imaginatively-clad space warrior floats weightlessly, among high-tech machinery and near another space-person, apparently outside a starship of some kind. Very detailed; the amount of work that goes into something like this continues to boggle the mind. Big and emphatic and worthy of dominating a room when hung. L305

Salwowski, Mark. 1999: Original cover painting by Mark Salwowski for the 1999 Orbit edition of Maureen McHugh's multiple-award-winning science fiction opus, "China Mountain Zhang". 72 x 48 cms, painted in ink on illustration board. Fine, pristine. With an intense and beautiful sci-fi mood, Salwowski's cover far exceeds those of several other editions of the famed novel. Please see scans (note that the scan of the book itself is provided for reference. The book is not part of this item). Two small scratches (see scan). Another wow by Salwowski. Big and striking, a room-center eye-catcher hanging on the wall - it is, in fact, hanging on mine right now, with another Mark Salwowski piece. Frame is not included, though. Burton had done work for a wide variety of publishers in the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Comics fields. Cleo de Merode (Cleopatra Diane de Merode), 1873-1966, was a French ballerina born in Biarritz to parents of Austrian nobility, renowned for both her talent and her beauty. 2000. Soft cover. Fine. Monteleone, John . circa 2000: Original painting art by internationally recognized artist John Monteleone, "Homage to Vargas". Medium: Oil on illustration board; Size approx 19x13 inches / 48x33 centimeters. Monteleone, an extremely widely-known and appreciated artist, here diverges from his more frequent subject fare to dabble in the pin-up realm. Though titled in homage to the fabled Alberto Vargas, this piece is in fact executed in Monteleone's own style, and he does indeed add something to the genre. I can almost taste this one, and it tastes like strawberry ice-cream, to me. Unsigned, but Monteleone has named the young lady being committed to the ages here: she is "Gicinni". Near fine, with just a faint uncreased fold at lower left, off-image. An early and highly collectible Drudwyn, just a bit before he became internationally famous for his incredible photorealism live-modeled pin-up masterpieces. At the time - the year 2000 - Drudwyn was just starting out, and was doing a number of comic-book-based heroines, such as Lady Death, the 1991 creation of Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes for Eternity Comics "Evil Ernie" series, and later in Chaos! Comics, Avatar Press/Boundless, and a full-length animated feature film. Avatar now publishes the villainess character, whose (fictional) "origin" is itself a convoluted and ever-changing tale.
