Covers scuffed and a little scratched. First gathering of pages (prelims) detached - held in by small piece of tape. Name in ink to front endpaper. Old glue marks to inner margins of endpapers. Some hinges cracked. Contents are generally clean.

Red cloth spine with black title, pictorial front board shows a girl at the seaside listening to a shell. Green pictorial endpapers. 24 colour plates mounted on brown paper (2 cat plates by Wain and 5 plates by Aris), numerous b/w text illustrations throughout (including many non-cat illus by Wain). 288 pages. Spine and corners bumped, corners worn, edges rubbed. A couple of scratch marks to front cover and covers slightly grubby with foxing on rear cover. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. One colour plate (of a teddy) is lightly creased and one Wain plate has a light corner crease. Contents are clean.

Blue pictorial front board shows Wilfred's underground birthday party. Colour plates. B/w illustrations. Spine and covers unusually clean and bright due to presence of glassine wrapper which is edge-worn and torn with slight loss and also repaired with tape. Joints starting to crack and have been neatly repaired with glue. Foxing to text block and page browning. A super copy.
