Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free-endpaper, "To RAdm. Chaplin in appreciation for your hospitality. Dwight R. Messimer." A good plus copy with bending at the spine ends, minor corner bumps and edgewear. Interior is clean and unmarked in a solid binding. Dustjacket is also good with sunning/fading to the spine titles and a bit soiling at the folds - minor wear to the panel edges. 266 pp., indexed, bibliography, some black and white photos. The story of Edouard V. Isaacs, Medal of Honor recipient, and his great escape from a World War 1 POW camp.

A very good copy with a bend to the top of the front cover and minor edgewear. Text is clean and binding is solid. Laid in at front is a copy of a Daily News article about Clinton honoring Iwo Jima hero Jack Lummus. Unpaginated (about 30 pages), black and white photos throughout - a who's who of famous marines used as a recruitment tool in the late 90s.

New York: Brightlights Publications, 1995. Paperback. Fair. Red stapled softcover. Minor wear at the edges, binding solid. Previous owner's markings throughout make this a fair to good copy. Notes and marginalia, highlighting in 3 colors. All of the notations seem like they are related to people who should have been included, along with reminders to ask certain people about various exclusions. Unpaginated (about 30 pages), black and white photos throughout - a who's who of famous marines used as a recruitment tool in the late 90s.

Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page, "To Becky - Jay Kopelman." A very good copy with wear at the bottom of the board edges and the lower spine end. Otherwise a clean, unmarked copy in solid binding - tight as if unread. Unclipped jacket is bright, attractive and adorable. Sticker remnant to the lower rear panel and a small black sharpie mark at the top of the rear panel. 196 pp., indexed, some black and white photos. The true story of an abandoned puppy and the marines who adopted him in the midst of the Iraq war.

Signed and inscribed by Captain Smiley on the dedication page, "God Bless Mona, Scott Smiley." Shallow bump to the bottom of the front board and a bit of bending at the spine tips. Text clean and unmarked other than the author's inscription. Binding solid. Unclipped jacket with minor shelfwear at the edges and a bit of scuffing to the rear panel. 243 pp., some black and white photos at center. The inspiring story of an Army officer in Iraq and the impact of the loss of his sight in a suicide bombing.

Binding is solid but lacking tightness and pages are clean and unmarked. Unclipped dustjacket is good, but with darkening and sunning to the cream colored panels and a couple of short tears at the top of the front panel. 85 pp., indexed. Tobler's account of his time in the African Campaign in the deserts of World War II.

Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To Greg Strand Welcome to Corvallis Irene Hope-Hedrick." A very good copy with light bending to the corners and a slight lift to the front cover. Binding is solid and no creases or splits at the spine. Tight as if unread. 324 pp., some black and white photos. The story of a young British woman and the American airman she married in World War II.

London: Greenhill Books, 1989. Reprint. Hardcover. Good. Red hardcover with gilt spine lettering, lacking dustjacket. A good only copy with bumping to the corners and spine ends. Solid binding but lacking in tightness. Some upper page corners dog-earred and some sporadic underlining and marginalia in red ink - maybe 10-15 pages. 292 pp., a reading copy only. 1989 reprint of this amazing military biography.

Oregon: Knittel Publications, 1993. First edition. Paperback. Very Good. Trade paperback 1st edition in very good condition. Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page, "State Fair 2000 - Enjoy the book - a bit of history of WW II - Harold." Minor bending at the corner and light shelf-wear to the edges. Spot of discoloration to the top of the front cover, most likely from a sticker removal. 122 pp., some black and white photos. Knittel served in the European theatre and earned a purple heart and bronze star.

Indiana: Sweet Pea Press, 2000. Hardcover. Near Fine/very good. Canvas style cloth hardcover in jacket. Signed by Medal of Honor recipients James Allen Taylor and James Elms Swett on their pages, and photographer's signature and inscription to the front free-endpaper, "To: Joe, Discover the Wonderfulness of Ordinary. Thanks for all your help. God Bless! Best Regards, Casalini." A near fine copy - clean and solid with straight edges and corners. Other than the inscriptions, the word "Buzz" to the top of the free-endpaper is the only marking. Unclipped dustjacket is very good with some soiling to the white panels, indentions near the rear joint, and a bit of ruffling to the panel edges. 160 pp., a beautiful collection of full page black and white photos of recipients of the Medal of Honor. This copy does not have the word "Congressional" in the title, perhaps indicating an early edition, although no statement of edition is present.

Edges and corners with minor shelf-wear. The interior is unmarked and the binding and hinges are solid. Unclipped jacket in tri-tone blue with darkening at the edges, especially noticeable on the flaps, minor wear at the panel edges. 183 pp., Best's autobiography of his efforts to earn the title of Master Mariner and the experiences that went with it.

London: Caldra House Ltd., 1993. First edition. Paperback. Good. Text in Polish. In English, the title translates to "Chief of Artillery Colonel Edmund Zagorski Certified Artillery (1896-1974)" from the series "Polish artillery officers of the armed forces in the West." Small softcover book, signed and inscribed by the author on the half title in Polish in the year of publication. Wear at the edges and corners and a crease spineward to the front cover from being opened and read. Binding solid and all pages clean and unmarked. All wear is external. Text in Polish. 62 pp., some black and white photos from World War II. The author became an engineer for NASA and lived in Ohio at the time of the publication of this book. He was a recipient of Poland's equivalant of our Medal of Honor.

A very good copy , black hardcover 1st edition with minor wear to the edges, clean and unmarked in a solid binding. The dustjacket is not as good - unclipped but with a few sections of paper loss at the top edge of the panels and short tears and light soil. 315 pp., the autobiography of a WWII prisoner of war held int he Philippines and then in Japan. Vantage press is known as a vanity publisher, but still produces some fascinating and unique perspectives.

A good copy with wear at the edges and bending at the corners. A few rises in the laminant of the front cover. Text is clean and unmarked but for a previous owner's name on the half title page. 285 pp., some black and white photos. Letters of a union soldier in the civil war, giving an interesting look at life and the hardships endured.
