No binding. Near fine. Fine Art Print. Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) lobby card, USA. W. C. Fields, Martha Raye, Dorothy Lamour, Shirley Ross, Bob Hope, Lynne Overman, Ben Blue, dir: Mitchell Leisen; Paramount. Near fine. One of the finest and best remembered of the 1930s musicals, if for no other reason than the introduction, by Ross and Hope (his first feature role), of the classic song "Thanks for the Memory". It won the Academy Award.
Martha Raye, who did her own stunts in a raucously entertaining number, was ingeniously cast as W. C. Fields' daughter (in his last film for Paramount). Everyone shone in their musical moments in a story which concerned a race between two ocean liners, from which the new S. S. Gigantic had a big radio broadcast emitting (you see, the turbine engine worked on radio waves is the explanation!). Fields plays T. Frothingill Bellows, brother to the owner of the ship, who with his daughter Martha (Martha Raye) are sent to cause trouble on the rival ship. They end… Read More

Description:
Twentieth Century Fox. Softcover/Paperback. Very Good+. [Barcelona?]: Twentieth Century Fox, 1963. Vintage original Spanish pressbook (for the film's first release in Spain), about 13 x 10" (33 x 26 cm.), folded once (as issued), stamp of a former collector on front cover, pictorial wrappers, 6 pp., a few very light stains, VERY GOOD+. The artwork on the front cover of Dorothy Dandridge is adapted from the American campaign, but the Spanish artist has greatly improved on the U.S. original -- this rendering of Dandridge is much livelier and lifelike. The inner spread contains a montage of images from Otto Preminger's classic Black musical.

No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Vintage original 41 x 27"" (103 x 68 cm.) one sheet poster, USA. Alice Brady, Charles Winninger, Tom Brown, Dorthea Kent, Willie Best, Donald Meek, dir: Ray McCarey; Universal. Lively caricature art highlights this poster for a story about a once-famous vaudeville and Broadway couple who arrive to play in a small conservative Connecticut town with a troupe of crazy performers. This low budget musical was a remake of the early talkie THE SHANNONS OF BROADWAY which featured real-life Broadway couple James and Lucille Gleason. The artist is not credited and the poster has a contemporary feel. It is on linen. There has been touch-up at corners and touch-up at fold lines and a bit of paint filling-in on lines and junctures. There are a few tears addressed just above the copyright at the bottom left corner, VERY GOOD-FINE.

Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, Debbie Reynolds, Jean Hagen, Millard Mitchell, Cyd Charisse, dir: Gene Kelly, Stanley Donen; MGM. The quintessential MGM musical, the favorite of many with its lighthearted look at the movies' transition to ""talkies."" Great songs of that era highlighted the film. So popular has it become that it is now a major stage musical. Nice glossy paper card captures the spirit of the film. There is a bit of edge wear and slight creases at corners, ABOUT FINE.

Al Jolson, Kay Francis, Dolores del Río, Ricardo Cortez, Dick Powell, Guy Kibee, Ruth Donnelly, Hugh Herbert, Louise Fazenda, dir: Lloyd Bacon, Busby Berkeley; Warner Brothers. Paper-backed, there has been some skillful but routine touch up to bottom margin and in the area of a couple of the small images of stars, near very good.Wonder Bar is the Paris entertainment bar owned by Al Wonder, and he welcomes the audience in (on camera and in the cinema audience) to his establishment with a song "Vive La France". This performance (at Jolson's insistence) would be one of the last to be done live on camera (with the Warner Brothers orchestra live on set portraying the club's band). The story involved a tragic love triangle which ended in murder -- a more lively script than standard musical faire of the day; still, it was Busby Berkeley's wildly staged and edited production numbers which to this day are… Read More
