The original price of $3.00 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows spotting and scuffing along with edge chips and small tears. The underside of jacket was neatly reinforced with masking tape along the top and bottom, over the decades the tape is become dry and brittle and can easily be detached just by flexing the paper (the bottom piece already came off). The dry tape glue residue still remains on the underside of the jacket though. Red cloth boards underneath the clean and corner sharp. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or personal bookplates, no handwriting, no remainder marks, nothing torn or loose. New York: A Richard Seaver Book / The Viking Press, 1977. Uncorrected Proof / Advance Reading Copy . Soft cover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, this is the unrevised proof, marked confidential on the front cover, and was sent out for correction purposes. Interior pages are hand numbered and the reviewer was supposed to mark any errors and then send it back to The Viking Press before the book was actually published in March 1977. It appears the book receive damage at the postal center and was later sold at auction, as you can see by the stamping inside the front cover. The front wrap has diagonal creases in the lower right in the rear cover has a lot dark smudge marks and a vertical crease. Internal binding is good and tight. The front page which shows the publishers letter is attached to the second front end page by glue. The remaining pages are in good shape with no markings other than the hand numbering of the pages. Original price of $2.50 is still present on the front flap. DJ is tattered and worn with numerous chipping and tearing to edges, along with soiling spots and toning. Yellow cloth boards underneath are still bright but book shows edge and corner bumps along with a few spots. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues present. Paper is toned due to age and some minor spotting is noted. Front end page contains a tipped-in card stating this is a review copy from the publisher with a future publication date of June 12, 1946. At the top of this page there is also evidence of something that was once penciled and then later erased - one word is written in red pencil in the remnants that's in the upper right corner is likely old pricing from a previous bookseller. These extremely limited copies were sent out to be proof-read for corrections before the book was actually published. The paper attach to the front cover states the title has a" probable publication date" of April 1977, with a probable price of $15.00. PP insider hand numbered but no other hand corrections have been made.

New York: W. W. Norton & Company, 1940. Uncorrected Proof / Advance Reading Copy . Soft cover. Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Arthur D. Fuller. See photos for condition details. Large softcover, marked as a first edition on the copyright page and also an "advance copy, printed from uncorrected proofs" is printed on the half title page. The rear inside cover states and upcoming publication date of September 5, 1940 with a retail price of $2.50. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The back cover has numerous light scratch marks. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The end pages inside covers show a lot of spotting and soiling and there is a faint penciled price that was written in the corner and then later erased. No other markings found in the book, no bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The book is a bit grubby and worn but is in good shape for reading purposes.

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1991. Uncorrected Proof / Advance Reading Copy . Soft cover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. This is an uncorrected proof for limited distribution, as so stated on the front cover. Cover also states a publication date will be January 10, 1991. The book is stamped RESEARCH on the front cover, top and fore edge. We saw no writing on the interior pages but the back cover has notes penned in the corner. There's also a label on the spine. This a pre release item which is printed prior to the first edition and used for research and reviewing purposes only. See photos.

Hardcover, blue cloth boards with gilt text on front and spine. Interior shows minor edge and corner bumps along with some spotting and soiling. Gilt text somewhat darkened. Foxing spots are present along the top edge of exterior page block. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting. Please note: the book has been stamped by the publisher on the front end page and title page with the following: "Editorial Copy from The John C. Winston Co.. Philadelphia, For Review Only". Pages are likely tone due to age but are clean.

Hardcover, pre-release review copy with publisher's card pasted in front showing the official release date. The front pastedown also contains the signed bookplate of Harrison W. Fry, an editor and writer for the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin. Red cloth boards show toning along the edges along with some spotting. Edges and corners also show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some light pulling in spots. No other markings other than the editors bookplate and publisher review copy card. Copyright page states first printing although this novel appeared in England under the title Paper Prison (as stated on the copyright page).

No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The front end page shows residue from a price once penciled in the corner and then later erased. Pastedowns and opposite end pages also show toning/foxing to the reacting with the dust jacket paper over the decades. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

This book is not have a dust jacket as that is how the advance reading copy was issued. Exterior shows some scuffing and toning and the lower right corner of the front board has a more severe spot which also has some damage to the corner. DJ shows chipping and tears with the rear cover having a couple tears that measures several inches. Jacket also shows some scuffing and toning and there is a detached chip at the bottom of the spine area. Green cloth boards underneath are clean as they have always been protected by the jacket. Brown cardboard covers with brown binders tape on the spine. Hand typed paper label on front lists the tentative publication date of March (1933) and a tentative price of $2.00. The first free end page is slightly shorter than the remaining pages and the first has a stain at the top. There are several other pages of various height as well. Pages are printed on just one side, allowing for corrections to be made if needed. Several pages also have test patterns outside of the text area.

New York: D. Appleton & Company, 1853. Hardcover. Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with black design and text on all sides. Boards show edge and corner bumps/wear along with chipping to spine edges. Rear exterior hinge as a couple holes near the top section and cloth is cracked new the top. Despite the exterior issues the Interior binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates found, no library markings present. Pages are toned due to age and scattered foxing is present though and pages and pastedowns are quite severe. In addition, pages 65-68 have a very small corner chair the bottom outside corner which is well outside of the text areas.
