Hardcover, blue cloth boards decorated in silver and black on front, gilt to spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling with wear to the boards. Edges and corners also show wear/bumps. Floral end pages and front and rear are free of any handwriting or bookplates, internal binding is good the rear hinge is starting to crack at the bottom and there is some pulling at page 64/65. Pages are toned due to age and minor foxing and smudge marks are present.

Indianapolis, IN: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1910. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Paul J. Meylan. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, light blue cloth boards decorated in ivory and gilt. Exterior shows some scuffing and soiling, spine is mildly faded. The front board has a few dark spots with the worst being in the lower left corner area. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age and there is some foxing and spotting though the rear end page and pastedown has the worst as well as the pages surrounding the illustrations. This issue is caused by the two different types of paper reacting.

Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1953. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG+/Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $3.00 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows scuffing and soiling along with numerous chips and tears. Black cloth boards underneath are clean with the only issue being some very faint corner bumps. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. The end pages show some toning/foxing due to reacting with the dust jacket paper. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, no remainder marks etc. Stated first edition on the copyright page.

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1929. 17th Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, lime green cloth boards with black text on front and spine. Exterior shows some spotting soiling and spine is lightly sunned. Corners are sharp with only minimal wear. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting is in the upper outside corner of the front end page where you could just make out where a price was once penciled and then later erased. Pages are toned due to age and there is some scattered foxing and spotting present. Copyright page states seventeenth printing, March 1929. This condition is a strong VG, borderline VG+.

DJ is toned and soiled with multiple edge chips and wear. Book exterior has yellowing and some spotting and also shows wear. Decorated end pages have no signatures or bookplates though there is faint residue where something was once penciled on the front end page along the top edge. First edition thus with single date of 1913 appearing on both the title and copyright page. No binding issues noted. Top edge gilt.

Hardcover, red cloth boards with circular paper label on front exterior shows some scuffing and toning along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The spine is faded and this also can be seen on the rear board. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age and there is foxing present, particularly around the color illustration pages as the two different types of paper reacting with each other over time. This can also be seen on the title page.

The front pastedown contains a bookplate which is the only markings in the book. There are no signatures, no handwriting, no library markings, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and both end pages and pastedowns show foxing and spotting, mainly due to the type of glue the publisher used.

Hardcover, lilac (pale purple) cloth boards decorated in gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows spotting and scuffing, spine is mildly darkened. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good though there are some hairline cracks in spots. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting, no torn pages.

Exterior shows quite a bit of spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The internal binding is overall good but there is some light pulling in spots present. Front end pages show original owners name lightly written in pencil on two different pages. Dark brown end pages and front and rear but the front end page is attached to the front pastedown. Pages are toned due to age and there is some minor spotting/smudges and foxing present. Exposed front end page also has a very faint price penciled in the upper corner and page 63 has a faint crease in the corner.

New York: Arco Publishing Company, 1952. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket that still has the original price of $2.00 on the front flap. DJ is fairly tattered scuffed numerous chips and tears, including one on the spine. Blue cloth boards underneath show toning along edges spine along with edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no pages are corner loose.

Exterior shows sunning and soiling, spine is also sunned. Corners and spine edges show wear and bumps. Interior binding is good, no hinge issues, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age and some minor foxing is present. Front end page shows a 1912 " compliments of" presentation. This page also has a small corner crease in the lower right corner.

Auburn, NY: Derby and Miller, 1853. Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Fred M. Coffin. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original binding of blindstamped boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows quite a bit of scuffing and soiling as well as staining, spine is faded, edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good at the front and rear hinges but some of the page sections show pulling and are only partially attached where they stick out a bit on the exterior. The front end page contains a 1854 gift inscription. The end pages and pastedowns are quite darkened and there is staining which seems to be the most apparent on the pages with illustrations. Other pages show light staining as well as foxing. Title page states twenty-seventh thousand. The condition of this book is rough but complete.

Baltimore, MD: John Murphy & Co., 1873. Hardcover. Good+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original binding of maroon cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The spine is signed and also has a spot just below the title near the bottom. The internal binding is overall good, no hinge issues at boards and text pages are tight. The front pastedown contains a bookplate from the Parkersburg Female Academy of the Visitation, showing this was given as an award in 1874. The next to front end pages as an indentation and marks along the top edge where a paperclip once was. The interior pages are toned and there is some scattered foxing and smudge marks present, though the worst appears to be the front and rear end pages.

New York: Frederick Fell, Inc., 1949. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $1.98 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows scuffing and spotting along with edge wear/small chips/small tears. Gray cloth boards underneath or clean except for some spotting to the edges, mainly at the bottom and spine. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. Pages are very lightly toned but are clean. The very last text page has a spot in the gutter and is attached to the end page on the inside as well. The small spot can also be seen on the end page in pastedown at the rear board. There is some spotting and foxing present though this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns.

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1914. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. F. C. Yohn. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Exterior shows only very minimal handling wear and toning, corners are still sharp. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Text pages are clean but end pages and pastedowns show toning and foxing with the rear end page being the worst. Tissue guards are still present and attached on all images. First edition with publishers colophon appearing on the copyright page along with a single publication date of September, 1914.

Hardcover, dark grey cloth board show scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The internal binding is good at boards but there is some minor pulling at spots on the text pages which includes some very thin cracks. Pages are toned due to age and there is spotting and foxing present throughout, with the worst being the end pages and pastedowns. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings found. The only evidence of handwriting is in the corner of the front end page where there are several prices that were penciled and then partially erased. PLEASE NOTE: despite the pulling and couple hairline cracks it is obvious is book was never fully red as many of the page quadrants are still uncut starting as early as page 46 and continuing on through the end of the book. New York: Gates & Co., 1877. Hardcover. VG+. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brick red cloth boards, trimmed in black and gilt text on spine. Boards are remarkably clean though there are some pronounced edge and corner bumping present. Top of spine also has chips/small tears. Internal binding is good with the exception of very light cracking to the dark brown finish at the front hinge, text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting found. The front end pages shows some light vertical creases which carries on to the title page. Paper is toned due to age and there is some very minor scattered spotting present.

The exterior shows spotting and soiling with the worst being the rear board, spine is faded. Edges and corners also show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The front end page contains a 1918 Christmas gift inscription, no other handwriting found, no bookplates, no library markings etc. There is some light scattered spotting and foxing with the worst being the end pages. Title page states:" Illustrated with scenes from the play" and"Founded on Earl Derr Biggers' Played of the Same Name".

Hardcover, green cloth boards shows spotting and soiling along with toning to edges and spine (which is quite sunned). Front board has a stain near the center in the rear board has a small drink ring as well as stating to the upper left edge and a few random pen marks. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are toned due to age and type of paper used. The front pastedown contains a bookplate (Penelope Westcott Jamison) and her signature is on the opposite end page. This is a first edition, second state. The copyright page shows only the publication date of 1931 but page 123 has the obscenity replaced with ------- and page 306 contains only 32 lines of text. The exterior cover is the only reason for the low condition grade. Interior condition is VG.

Black Hawk Press, 1935. Limited Edition . Hardcover. VG-/Good-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ has yellowed with age and has numerous chips and small tears present. Price is clipped on the front flap. Orange cloth boards underneath are a overall clean though spine is faded and board edges show spotting and fade as well. Interior binding is good, only issue is a small 1 inch opening at the front hinge near the top and there is a narrow crack present at pg. 64. . Pages are quite yellowed due to quality of paper used. Frontispiece has tipped in illustration. Copyright page states this is a limited edition of 900 copies (Plus two copies printed on special paper). Title page has some minor chipping on the fore edge.
