First edition; 8vo; pp. [2], 3-238, [2]; with DJ; original green boards with pictorial DJ; very slight wear to lower corners of boards and a faint spot to bottom margin of title page, else fine; DJ with nicks and small cuts along edges. Signed/inscribed by author. Popov was an active member of the Communist Party until 1990. In the 1970s he was dean of the Economics Faculty of Moscow Lomonosov University. After that, he quit the Party and became a staunch proponent of democratization. He was the first democratically elected mayor of Moscow. He resigned in 1992.

Signed/inscribed by Tchaikovsky to Prof. Anatoly Liberman, a prominent academician and author from the Department of German, Scandinavian and Dutch at the University of Minnesota. The book follows the music and literary art of Okudzhava during the last 15 years of his life and, more specifically, the challenges of translating his poetry into other languages, while keeping the flow and beauty of the original Russian.

First edition, 8vo, pp. [6], 7-479, [1]; original printed paper-covered boards; cloth spine; corners rubbed; several small spots of age-darkening to covers; dust-dulling to edges of spine; small dent to bottom edge of back board; pages uniformly browned; overall in very good condition. Sergei Bondarin was a Russian novelist who, in 1944, was arrested and sent to a labor camp on charges of "anti-Soviet agitation." He spent 9 years at the camp and then went in exile in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of Siberia. Some of the notes and novellas in his Touching the Person are autobiographical in nature.
