1968 reprint of 1896 edition. VG grey cloth covers, no d/j. 538 pp. 33 illustrations of swordsmen and duelling. Tthe preface to the original book is an excellent outline of duelling, swordsmanship and fencing as pactised by the British. I found this to be an interesting book in light of my only knowledge of swordsmanship from the movies. Customs and proper techniques are a requirement.

This book is an excellent story that includes material from Wills' wife, family and fellow musicians.

Details the efforts of an individual who ultimately teamed up with the Wildlife Institute to research and in-depth study of the life cycle of wildfowl. A pioneer effort.

An unusual cookbook in that it is has movie connections, as well as a song by famous folk singer Arlo Guthrie. The song is included in this copy as a 45pm size record played at 33 1/3. It is on original card attached to inside back cover. Scarce with record and original d/j. In addition the recipe's, there are a lot of tips and comments. The instructions on how to exercise while you cook are a hoot..

A must have book for anyone collecting early feminist biographies. Anne Royall is considered the first Washington columnist, commentator and muckracker. She was tried in Federal court as a "common scold", one who creates discord. She was sentenced to a Public dunking. Read all abut It!

4to, 5.5x8.5. Cover in very good condition with minor cover bumps and some scuffing to gutter. Bright green cloth with gold title on spine,which is not faded. The copyright history is interesting. 2 were granted in 1886, 2 in 1889, 2 in 1898, 1 in 1899 and the last to the Century Company in 1900. On the cover page, the date shown by Doubleday, Page is 1906. I am not quite sure what a first edition would be.This is a very good copy for its age. There is a previous owners faded stamp on the inside left cover and there is a faint crease on the inside right cover page. Other flaws in the book are some pencil notes and marginal lines that are unobtrusive on pages 4,5,6,8,13,17,18,75. The pencil notes could be easily erased if the owner is so inclined.On page 93 are 2 tears apparently made when trying to separate uncut page 93-94. Reading the life of this Southern Senator sheds light on American history seldom seen in such biographies. A very detailed look at the life and work of this statesman who eloquently put the substance of the roots of the Civil War into the public conscious. Calhoun's national prominence started with his election to Congress in 1810. He later was to become a Vice-President and Secretary of War. As a senator, he became the vocal voice of states rights.A courageous man, he was one of principles and convictions. His story is well worth reading to get an insight into pre-Civil War ideas and arguments.
