Folio, 38 x 28 cm (15 x 11 inches) six humorous black & white prints of a fictional hog race, each with short title above and a line of commentary below, extremities of corners a little chipped and soiled, not affecting images, otherwise very bright indeed, publisher's printed wrappers, sewn (thread replaced), soiled, some creasing and chipping, else good. mba004 Humorous prints of a steeplechase in which the mounts are shown as hogs, one of the prints is dated 1831. A very rare collection intended for framing, hence the wide margins and lightly sewn wrappers. 'Charles Joseph Hullmandel (1789-1850) (1789–1850). An exceptionally attractive example, handsomely bound as an Eton College leaving present soon after publication.George Badger, East India Company chaplain and Arabist, was sent by William Howley, Archbishop of Canterbury, as delegate to the Eastern Churches, and more especially the Nestorians of Kurdistan in 1842 and again in 1850. Apart from his travels in Kurdistan the work contains accounts of visits to Antioch and the Black Sea. The Nestorians exercised a fascination for Anglicans in the nineteenth century from their having been virtually isolated from the rest of Christendom since the fifth century. Blackmer 62.
