Description:
New York: Frederick A. Stokes, nd (circa 1936). Early reprint. Very fine; entirely clean and unworn in moderately edgeworn jacket. The quality of the illustrations is very good; crisp with well-defined colors . Original red cloth with color pictorial pastedown label on front board, 5.75 x 4.25 inches; frontispiece, ii-iv, [1], 56 pp., text and illustrations printed on both sides of the leaf, color pictorial jacket. This printing not described in Barton, though it is most akin to the suggested 1942 printing described there. There are two principle differences: publisher location in 1942 printing is New York & Philadelphia, ours is New York only; page numbers were printed in blue ink in the 1942 printing, ours are black. As jackets are seldom seen on early printings of this book Barton offers nothing to compare with. However, it is notable that our copy has the publisher price of $.50 printed on the front jacket flap and an advertisement for "Sambo and the Twins: A New Adventure of Little Black Sambo"…
