First American edition, published by Doubleday, 1934. First published in England as 'Knock-Out'in 1933. In this one, Drummond is investigating the case of the murder of a Scotland Yard detective who had been looking for a missing heiress. 310 pages, 5-1/4" X 7-7/8". Black "leatherette' style covered boards, with the title and author within a red field on the spine. Cover boards only show some minor wear at the edges of the head and heel of the spine and to the tips of the corners. All lettering on the spine is intact and legible. No dust jacket. Bottom corners are slightly bent inward. Red colored top-stain is a bit faded. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Sewn binding is tight and square. Faded stain mark to the bottom edge of the text block and last flyleaf-back paste-down page - about 1/2" X 3-1/2" - only a stain, the pages are not further damaged. Not a library discard copy.
