Some occasional browning and spotting to the blank margins of a few plates. Expertly re cased retaining the original tan leather boards with new leather spine. Gilt sporting motifs to spine compartments with contrasting title labels. Some old marking to boards and rubbing to corners and edges. The binding tight with no splits.The humorous poem was written by the journalist and novelist, Thomas Gaspey.

Frontis illustration + 3 other full-page plates the plate before page 185 hand coloured as are the printed armorial shields which occur throughout the volume. Small armorial bookplate to front paste down and verso of front blank for" Church House Bristol", also printed ownership label of Harold E Mathews to front paste down. The contents clean and tight with no inscriptions. Later (not recent) plain half burgundy calf with black title label. Light rubbing to edges and corners, the binding tight with no splits or staining. Believe to be one of 6 large paper copies with the engraved plate bound before page.185 hand-coloured, as are also the printed armorial shields, and three additional engravings. The plates do not appear in the smaller 8vo edition.

The sale to take place on the 1st of September 1921. The contents and map clean and tight with no splits or marks. Publishers printed card covers with details to upper flap.
