These include Cesare Borgia, Alessandro Farnese, William of Orange, Cosimo I de' Medici, Edward Prince of Wales, and Jeanne d'Arc.Of special interest are the illustrations from such important New World figures as Montezuma, King of Mexico; Atahualpa, King of Peru; Hernán Cortés; Francisco Pizarro; Ferdinando Magellan; and Amerigo Vespucci.
The book contains a complete printed index in the rear as well as two handwritten indices of some of the more famous people. The first, in English, is on the first paste down. The second, in German, is on the recto of the first free endpaper.
