Undated, circa 1940 (gift inscription inside the front dated 1947). Attractive vivid blue binding with elaborate gilt decorations and titles to the front and spine, very tidy. Hinge sound, page edges rough-cut. End papers a bit darkened, thereafter pages smooth, clean, largely clear of spotting. Very nice tipped in coloured plates throughout (16 in total). Wear to edges and rubbing to boards, the top board and front end paper to Volume iV is detached but present. Text blocks firm, pages smooth and clean.
