Description:
Written by English archaeologist and philologist, this work is a condensed version of his four volume work on the old-northern runic monuments of England and Scandinavia. Born in England, Stephens was a noted expert of runes and monumental inscriptions as well as studying Scandinavian folklore. This copy is in Fair condition, with significant wear to the cloth covers, and extensive foxing on the first pages, though the interior pages are essentially free of blemish. The binding is somewhat loose, but the quires are tightly together and there are no loose pages evident. Given the size and weight of this book, extra shipping will be required.
