Description:
The second of Garden City's popular editions of Halliburton's real life adventure memoirs. No DJ, but frankly the design for both this edition and the Bobbs-Merrill 1st Ed is pretty tacky. Tight, solid hard cover with embossing on front, deckled pages, spine lettering faded but quite readable. Occasional illustrations, photo frontis. Basically clean, a bit of soiling, a small excavation on top right edges of last few pages where a 1927 insect seems once to have been. Insect is as long gone, as the DJ.

Description:
If you are interested in the social and political ideas of some great French thinkers of the Age of Reason, this collection of essays by Fossey John Cobb Hearnshaw will provide exactly that with a heavy dose of a now-antiquated, some would say imperio-monarchist ideology that for whatever reason, has not prevented Professor Hearnshaw's works from remaining sporadically in print. In any case, Hearnshaw also held the post of Honorary Secretary of the Royal Historical Society.

The book has a tight, square, solid binding in maroon buckram with gilt lettering on the spine -- and is in about the condition a book would be in if someone had bought it in 1967, discarded the dust jacket as people used to do, and put it on a shelf until just today. Which appears to be the case.

As I am meticulous, slight imperfections prevent me from rating this as Fine or Mint, but hey, it's fine and it doesn't cost a mint.

Description:
This is a first edition, later-printing book clad, somehow, in a first-printing, first-state dust jacket, that I found in the wild from an owner who apparently bought the book new.

My position is that if anyone were to try any funny stuff, it would be to get a (cheap, readily-available) jacketless copy of a first-printing book, and stick it in this (rare, unavailable) jacket, creating a (very expensive, fake) true-first-edition copy. This is the opposite. If anyone switched the book, they suck at dishonest bookselling.

This is the version of the book bound in tan buckram with the standard red and black text and design on the spine. The dust jacket is uncut with original price featuring a photo of Hemingway on the back without the photo credit. All particulars check out for both the book and the dust jacket, providing no clues as to why this particular book ended up in this particular jacket. Tight, square, solid binding without significant issues except an ex libris pastedown, a hint of foxing at… Read More

Book has no shelf wear, and in fact little of that unquantifiable non-shelf wear that books get from being picked up and looked at, as in bookstores. And yet, a good book!
