Followed by nine black and white plates. Light wear to cloth, with minor loss in corners, and a slight amount of blistering of the cloth. Clean within.

Leipzig: Verlag Johann Ludewig Bleditsch, 1707. Full Vellum. Good. Folio, 37 by 24 cm. 14 cm thick. Leaves are numbered, not pages, and so the page count is double, plus plates. [25], 328, 134, 94, 179 leaves, with a total of 248 full-page engraved plates. (By sections, Old Testament up to the Prophets: 135 plates, the Prophets, 11 plates, the Apocrypha, 6 plates, the New Testament, 96 plates.) Our copy has considerably more plates than described on OCLC, which gives the plate count as 135. While this number is in accord with the plate count for the first section, we would note that otherwise the leaf count is near identical with our collation. This OCLC summation does suggest there are maps -- there are none in our copy, and we believe that this is a misdescription, as there is no evidence of anything removed from our copy, and we collated every text page for completeness. Plates are numbered 1 to 186, so this is not a complete compilation of the full run of plates, but there is no evidence that any plates were pulled or torn out of this copy, which is soundly bound. Wrap covers are bound in the quarter calf over marbled boards binding. Plates 122 to 126 have a small tear and/or hole, not affecting image, now repaired with archival tape and not too conspicuous. Otherwise, plates exude charm, and the costumes are suffused with color. Original paper or card spine label is preserved and mounted onto the calf spine, but many will find this touch not attractive.

Folio. 42 by 26.5 cm. [2], iv, ii, 714 pp., plus hand-colored frontis and 60 hand-colored numbered plates, with all plates engraved. Note that not all copies of the first edition were hand-colored. With first edition error points in pagination, with following pagination sequence: 591, 584, 595 594, 595, 598, 597, 598 . . . Posthumous work attributed to deceased Hale in part and also attributed to Hill. This copy had belonged to Mario Buatto, the "Prince of Chintz", one of the most famous of New York decorators and also a book collector. Condition: front joint cracked. Whitby, England, 1900-1909. Decorated Cloth. Very Good. 14 by 10 cm. 79 pp with substantial pictorial or textual content, with most of this being or including illustrations executed in ink, wash or watercolor. Plus a painting of a windmill on the front cover and inked monogram on the rear. The artwork is various, with scenery, landscapes and townscapes dominating, especially among the wash drawings, with human figurative studies secondary. Whitby is on the Yorkshire coast, so it is no surprise that depictions of boats and ships are well represented, and one can sense that Hill was basing her artwork on direct observation of local sights and people. There are also a few charming stabs at poetry. Perhaps the most singular aspect of this album is entitled "Art Notes", which contains 55 numbered points, beginning with "Avoid Christmas Card prettiness". This was no stereotypical Victorian!
