Description:
Boran-sur-Oise, Plainville ou Paris, entre 1622 et 1639 environ. Bundle of approximately 70 leaves of various sizes, most of them folio. Precious handwritten archives bringing together the correspondence addressed to her father by Maréchale d'Hocquincourt, a figure in one of the main families of the high French nobility in the North of France. Daughter of Jacques d'Estampes (1579-1639), Seigneur de Valençay et d'Happlaincourt, Governor of Calais, Éléonore d'Estampes (1607-1679) became the wife of Charles de Monchy, Marquis d'Hocquincourt, Marshal of France in 1651 and Governor General of Péronne, Montdidier and Roye, whom she had married in 1628 in Calais. She died at Château de Plainville (Oise) on May 27, 1679, aged seventy-two. Written by Eléonore before and after her marriage in 1628, at the age of twenty-one, these letters cover a period of almost twenty years and reflect the changes that had taken place in her life.
